US based Shell Chemical has plans to shut its Phenol/Acetone unit for brief maintenance. The unit is likely to go off-stream in the mid of January.
Unit no 3 of Phenol will go off-stream. The unit has the capacity to produce Acetone around 1,44,000 mt/year.
Unit is based at Deer Park in Texas. Lake this unit many other planned shutdowns will take place for Acetone. This unit turn will reduced the supply for Acetone market in the year 2018. Many traders believe they have to focus more on imports for Acetone from Asia as market will bear short supply for Acetone throughout 2018.
