Brahmaputra Chemical and Polymer Ltd (BCPL) has two shut down its Ethylene cracker on 22 Feb due to technical fault. Earlier two weeks back the plant was dedicated by Prime Minister to the nation. As per the BCPL authorities Ethylene cracker unit had to be stopped as a safety measure as certain technical problems emerged. The officials informed that assessment of the problem is being done and necessary steps were being initiated for identification and early restoration. The management further said that the Ethylene Cracker unit was under continuous operation for around a month and was necessitated as the storages of Ethylene were full and its consumption in the downstream units were low as they were under the stabilization process.
