Union ministry of Petroleum and gas has confirmed about the completion of techno-economic feasibility study for the site selection for its proposed Greenfield refinery, which will serve as the anchor for the PCPIR. According to the union ministry,“ HPCL, in collaboration with Gail, is considering a proposal for setting up a Greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Andhra Pradesh." It further stated, "Both HPCL and Gail are exploring the possibility of getting requisite investments for the project." "HPCL was looking at the viability of the project, but we are yet to receive word on whether they completed it. They have to identify what type of products can be processed at the Greenfield refinery. We are working with them on the project," a senior industries department official said.
