Fire at Japanese refinery was reported based at Chiba. The fire started at midnight on Thursday in the vacuum distillation unit of the refinery. The fire was under control in the morning hours of Thursday. According to company sources no other unit was damaged neither affected. The aromatic unit remained unaffected. The unit was closed for time being and has not been curtained about when it will resume its production.
Chiba plant has the production capacity of 5,77,000 mt/year of Benzene, 2,65,000 mt/year of Para Xylene, 353,000 mt/year of mixed Xylene and 210,000 mt/year of Styrene.
