Formosa shuts its RFCC for maintenance

Taiwan based Formosa has shut down its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker unit no 1 for maintenance turnaround. The unit has been shut down on 1st of March and is likely to remain off-stream for around 45 days. The RFCC unit is located at Mailiao has a capacity of 375,000 mt/year of propylene.The No. 1 cracker has an ethylene capacity of 700,000 mt/year as well as a propylene capacity of 396,000 mt/year. The butadiene unit, located at the same site, has a capacity of 109,000 mt/year.The No. 2 cracker is able to produce 1.035 million mt/year of ethylene, 515,000 mt/year of propylene and 162,000 mt/year of butadiene.The No 3 cracker is able to produce 1.2 million/year of ethylene, 600,000 mt/year of propylene and 176,000 mt/year of butadiene.
