The global polypropylene capacity is likely to see considerable growth over the next four years, potentially increasing from 83.44 million tpy in 2019 to 132.49 million tpy in 2024, which would mark a growth of 59%, led by Asia and the Middle East. In Asia, China and India are poised to potentially lead the global polypropylene capacity additions. Polypropylene capacity in Asia is expected to increase from 47.25 million tpy in 2019 to 78.04 million tpy in 2024, at an average annual growth rate (AAGR) of 10%. Among the countries in the region, China will add a capacity of around 18.01 million tpy by 2024. Major capacity addition will be from the active plant, Zhejiang Petrochemical Daishan Polypropylene Plant 1, which will have a capacity of 900 000 tpy.
