Iran to double production of petrochemicals to increase its exports

Iran is planning to increase its which will raise the annual production from $17bn to $25bn over the next two years. The current petrochemical capacity of 65 million tons should reach 92 million tons by 2021 and 130 million tons by 2024.However, Iran is currently utilizing 50-70 percent of its production capacity, due to export difficulties, and any expansion would make sense only if U.S. sanctions end and the country is able to sell petrochemicals, freely.
