Japan’s ethylene production for the month of May have plunged 2.5% (5, 35,900) in compare to previous month (April).
As per report, the plunge was due to Asahi Kasei Mitsubishi Chemical Ethylene Corp. shutting its naphtha-fed steam cracker at Mizushima on May 10 for annual maintenance. And the cracker will resume in July 3. The cracker can produce 495,000 mt/year of ethylene and 320,000 mt/year of propylene.
