Saudi Arabia’s SHARQ, or Eastern Petrochemical Company, will soon restart its operations at its No.4 monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant. The unit is likely to go on-stream in the first week of March 2020. Earlier the unit was shut down on 6th February 2020. Unit is based at Jubail in Saudi Arabia, the No. 4 EG plant has a production capacity of 700,000 mt/year.
PTA is used to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is used in the manufacturing of plastic bottles, films, packaging containers, in the textile and food industries.
