Subsidiary of China’s Shandong Yuhuang Chemical Co. has purchased an huge area in St.James Parish for its Methanol project. The proposed project is to be around of 1.85 billion dollar. According to company sources, it has started to prepare the site on Mississippi river for construction of the plant starting next year. The plant is expected to start its production in 2018. The company plans to add a second methanol plant and a methanol derivatives plant in future phases of the project
