China based Jiangsu Sailboat Petrocgemcial Co. likely to start up new MTO unit. Earlier this unit wasto scheduled to start up its production in 2015. The unit has the capacity of 883,000 t/y of Ethylene and Propylene based on UPT’s technology. This will further provide feedstock to downstream units producing 4 million t/y of petrochemical products.
Earlier the unit was delayed because of the key facilities that were now expected were not available.
The company also plans to start up a 60,000-t/y super absorbent polymer unit, an 80,000-t/y methyl methacrylate facility and a 260,000-t/y acrylonitrile unit in October using purchased propylene.
Following start-up of the MTO facility, Sailboat will begin operations at its 300,000-t/y low-density polyethylene and ethyl vinyl acetate project in Lianyungang. That project is based on LyondellBasell's Lupatech T and Lupatech A technologies.
