Weilian Chemical, a subsidiary of Dongying United Petrochemical Co., has signed an agreement with BP for the license of BP's technology for a new purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant to be constructed in China's Dongying Port Economic Development Zone.The facility is expected to utilize BP's latest generation technology, bpPTAg5, for the production of 2.5-million t/y of PTA. The design phase is underway and is expected to be completed during the first half of this year. First production is anticipated by the second quarter of 2022."Adding a PTA production facility is an important step for our company to accelerate industrial transformation, while improving quality and efficiency," said Li Zhanchen, chairman of Dongying United Petrochemical Co.
