China has raised its standards for building of new petrochemical plant in order to boost efficiency and to be more environment conscious along with concern and precautionary measures for its employees. Country has slowed down its expansion plans due to tighter environmental inspection and abating demand growth.
According to government norms the new petrochemical plants should be built on islands or peninsulas or deserted lands. New Ethylene units should have at least 10 million tonne per year capacity. New refineries producing fuel should have an annual processing capacity of 15 million tonnes or 300,000barrels per day. New Para Xylene (PX) unit should reach an annual capacity of at 600,000 tonnes, while new Methylene Diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) units should have a capacity of least 400,000 tonnes per year.
