PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indorama (TPPI) has decided to shut the production of its aromatic unit based at Tuban plant. The reason behind this closure is the financial crisis company is going through. The production has been halted since last one year at this site. Earlier the production was started in November 2013. After operating for six months the plant was shut down in May 2014 on feedstock issues. Since then it has not resumed its operations. The aromatic unit has the production capacity to produce 50,000 mt/year of Para Xylene, 360,000 mt/year of benzene and 100,000 mt/year of Ortho Xylene.
