SABIC has declared force majeure on its SM unit on Thursday. The reason behind this shut down has been extreme cold weather conditions. These extreme cold conditions often lead to failure of machinery and equipments. The unit has the production capacity of 1.18 mt/year. The unit is based at Carville in Louisiana in US. According to company sources the unit is likely to resume its full production in the month of March.
