China based Zejiang Petrochemical will soon start a new MEG unit in the year 2020. The increase in the domestic capacity has crippled the prices for MEG in international market. The slowdown is due to weakening of downstream industry i.e. polyester industry. There will be addition of new capacities in next few months in China market with starting of new MEG manufacturing units.
