Above graph represents the total imported Quantity of EDC for the month of July, 2018. Last month total imports were around 12769MT. In the month of July at Cochin port imports were higher while at Hazira port lesser quantity has been imported.

  • This week in the domestic market, prices of EDC have plunged in compare to previous week and were assessed at Rs 28/kg.
  • In international market, prices of EDC also have increased in compare to earlier week.
  • This week feedstock ethylene price has remained firm while EDC prices have plunged.
  • FOB Korea prices of feedstock ethylene USD 1375/MT
  • CFR China prices of feedstock ethylene USD 1395/MT
  • CFR South East Asia prices of feedstock ethylene USD 1255/MT.
  • Mitusi Chemicals has restarted its production after fire erupted in the month of June at its Osaka based unit.
  • The fire occurred in a utility plant during a scheduled maintenance, which was expected to be completed in late July.  The 500,000-t/y naphtha cracker was not directly affected. Other production will also be restarted in order.
  • Unit based in Osaka has also other facilities like olefins, aromatics, ammonia, urea, phenol, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, ethanolamine, unsaturated polyesters, isopropyl alcohol, melamine and others.
  • This week oil prices have followed volatile trend. On Thursday oil prices plunged as an swelling trade dispute between the United States and China balanced news of a decline in U.S. commercial crude inventories.
  • On Thursday, closing crude values have decreased. WTI on NYME closed at $67.83/bbl. Prices have decreased by $0.03/bbl in compared to last closing prices. While Brent on Inter Continental Exchange decreased by $0.05/bbl in compare to last closing price and was assessed around $74.73/bbl.
