Canada based Methanex has posted its North American and Asian contract prices for the month of June 2018. Prices posted for the region of North America are USD 496/MT. Prices remained unchanged for this month. On other side prices for the Asian Pacific region has been increased by USD 30/MT. The new ACP prices posted are USd 490/MT. Many China based MTO units has been shut down either fo annual maintenance or due to some technical issue in opertioans. Major MTO producers believe that the current prices for Methanol is too hogh. It dosn not make any sense to fill our inventories when most of out units are shut down for maintenance. On contrary the inventories are bein now emptied and will refill once the prices are lowered. There has been significant hike in IIndian domestic marker for Acetic acid values. One month prices were floating in the range of Rs.30-35/Kg. Now it has doubled to Rs. 60/Kg for Kandla and Mumbai port. The acute shortage of material in its peak demand season is the major factor behind this hike in values. Reliance Industries (RIL) has received environment clearance for the expansion and optimization of its petrochemical complex at Nagothane in Raigad district of Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 2,338 crore.
