Chevron Philips experienced an unexpected outage at the producer’s HDPE unit. The unit has been shut down due to technical issues. ’Our cargoes from Chevron has been delayed. When we inquired, the producer said it is due to production problem, but did not specify further. We suspect either short on ethylene or oversold due to high HDPE prices,’’ a converter informed. Iraq is planning to start crude oil exports from its northern Kirkuk Oilfield to Iran. Iraqi exports could increase, as the country plans to start trucking crude to Iran’s Kermanshah Oil Refinery under a swap agreement announced last month. Blast was reported at naphtha cracker of IOC refinery on Monday. According to company sources, the employees were engaged in maintenance of a valve in the Swing unit and gas started leaking, causing a high volume blast at 12.50 pm.
