Toluene prices may plunge in December on feeble demand sentiments from end users. Currently toluene prices were evaluated in the range of USD 750-770/mt CFR India and USD 690-710/mt FOB Korea. SOCAR Methanol LLC has decided to reduce its supplies of methanol to international market. The country will focus more on domestic supplies. At present only 5% of production was supplied for domestic purpose remaining 95% was directed for international supplies. Recently Saudi Aramco signed a deal of 20 billion dollar joint venture for a crude oil-to-chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. Aramco and Saudi Arabia’s chemicals company SABIC signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a fully-integrated crude oil to chemicals (COTC) complex in Saudi Arabia, planned to process 400,000 bpd of crude oil. According to the China’s ministry of commerce, it has imposed anti-dumping on the imports of MIBK from South Korea, Japan and South Africa as it has been causing damage to the domestic firms. Shell Chemicals took an important decision of idling its two Phenol units after Acetone. The idling of these units in 2018 in US will balance the Phenol supply in the country.
