The country’s leading oil distributor and refiner, Petron Corp is planning to invest more its refining capacity in Malaysia to produce petrochemicals and aromatics. Currently the capacity of the refinery is 80,000 bpd and after expansion it will about 150,000 bpd, as per report. Petron also intends to expand the capacity of its oil refinery in Limay, Bataan, Petron and San Miguel Corp. In Bataan Petron’s oil refinery will likewise be expanded from 180,000 bpd day to 270,000 bpd. ..

Methanol plant has been shut down by League Chemical. The plant is based at Shandong in China and has the production capacity of 250 Kt/year. Earlier the unit was shut down on 6th may and will remain off-stream for around three weeks. Methanol unit will resume its production on 20th May 2017. ..

PTT Global Chemical is planning to shut its no2 para xylene plant for maintenance turnaround. The plant is likely to go off-stream in the mid of June. Malaysian state-owned oil company Petronas and its partner Saudi Aramco are in plan to construct more petrochemical plants in Malaysia to make full use of raw materials from their joint venture. HPCL and its partner Lakshmi N Mittal will be investing around 3billion dollar in esgtablishing a petrochemical unit at their Bhatinda refinery in Punjab.
