Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. is moving ahead with previously announced plans to build a petrochemical complex at the company’s Kochi, India, refining site. The complex, based on propylene, will produce acrylic acid, acrylates, and oxo alcohols. The total investment cost is about $700 million.
The planned complex will have the capacity to produce 180,000 metric tons/year of butyl acrylate, 47,000 metric tons/year of ester-grade acrylic acid, 47,000 metric tons/year of 2-ethyl hexanol, 38,000 metric tons/year of n-butanol, 10,000 metric tons/year of 2-ethyl hexa acrylate, and 7,000 metric tons/year of isobutanol. It will consume about 250,000 metric tons/year of propylene.
Engineers India Ltd. (New Delhi) will build the plant and has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction management services contract.
