Jamnagar based Reliance Industries Limited will expand its Jamnagar refinery capacity from 35.2 MT to 41 MT. RIL’s current refinery complex in Jamnagar has a cumulative capacity to process 68.2 MTPA of crude oil. After expansion, RIL’s total crude oil processing capability would increase to 74 MTPA, overtaking Indian Oil Corporation’s cumulative capability of 69.2 MTPA. This in turn will make it one of the largest refineries across Asia.According to ministries committee on refinery expansion, India is projected to increase its total oil refining capacity by 76 per cent to 438.65 MTPA by 2030 from the current 249.4 MTPA.
