China-based Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical Company has announced that methanol-to-olefins (MTO) plant installed by Honeywell has become fully operational.
The new plant converts methanol from domestic coal into olefins for plastics production, and is capable of producing 833,000mt of olefins per annum.
As per report, the Jiangsu Sailboat unit is the largest single-train MTO unit in the world. Honeywell UOP’s Advanced MTO process leads the industry in terms of scale and operating efficiency.
Honeywell stated that its advanced MTO process produces the maximum amount of light olefins at the lowest cost of production and the lowest catalyst consumption.
The Sailboat production facility in Lianyungang City in China’s Jiangsu Province will produce propylene for the production of acrylonitrile. The factory will also produce ethylene for the production of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers, in addition to C4 olefins for the production of butadiene.
Jiangsu Sailboat operates as a wholly owned subsidiary company of Shenghong Holding Group, and is located in Xuwei new district Industrial Park, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu province.
Upon becoming operational, the 500ha facility will produce approximately 2.5 million tonnes of high-end petrochemical products.
