Growing beauty concerns and rising purchasing power among the men and women are boosting the demand for cosmetic products. 

In India, the beauty care market consists of salons, cosmetic treatment centers and cosmetic Products. Among this cosmetic product is likely to become the main contributor to the growth of Indian beauty industry. 

India has about 1,000,000 numbers of Salons & this number is constantly growing, Women contribute to over 85% of the Salon industry. The Spa and body treatment segment is estimated to grow approximately USD 772 million over the next five to eight years.

In the last five years Cosmetic Products have seen a growth of 60%, Cosmetic Treatments are seeing a growth rate of 5% and Salons have seen a growth rate of 35%. As per the consumer behavior survey, consumers are rapidly shifting towards natural and herbal cosmetic products as they find bio-active ingredients safer and secure for human skin. Women are spending more on cosmetics as they are actively earning and spending money on grooming themselves. Rural India is also showing its willingness to look attractive.

According to industry source, Indian cosmetics sector is expected to expand remarkable growth in near future. The increasing awareness of western culture, rising beauty concerns among men and women, strong media promotion and rising fashion consciousness has enhanced the demand for cosmetic sector. The segment is expected to surge at a CAGR of more than 18% during 2011-2015.
