Fertilizer Industry Round Up (15/06/15 to 20/06/15)

Published on June 22, 2015

With onset of monsoon across the country demand for fertilizer has increased by double folds. Crop cultivation has started with rise in use of fertilizers. To provide urea at ease government of India has announced a new urea policy fro 2015. It has set a target of 2 million tones of increment in the production of urea in the country. The main focus of this policy will be to increase its production as there is huge 8 million tonnes of demand supply gap. Demand across the nation is of around 30 million tonnes while supply caters only 22 million tonnes of requirement.

Government is way pushing ahead to provide the subsidy to farmers. There do exist loopholes in this policy but due to advancement of technology the benefits of the government policies will directly reach the farmers making it leak proof.  Government has already launched its pilot project in twelve districts of the country. Earlier it was decided that subsidy will be transferred to the farmer through the land registration process but the government again found a loop in this policy as the tiller is not the actual land holder. It will further make it difficult to go further by land records. IFFCO has taken lead for the and will provide data to its cooperative societies. The transactions will be integrated with the Fertilizer monitoring system and Banking Software to support all the financial transactions.
