Laminate Industry Round Up (31/5/14 to 7/6/14)

Recent report said that the Laminate industry is fighting with margin issues since 2 years. Laminate and plywood industry is facing challenges due to steep hike in the prices of face veneer after the ban came on Gurjan log export from Burma.

Report said that market players have increased the prices of laminate to offset the rise of increased cost. Plywood industries are in the grip of less productivity due to human shortage and mass departure of workers to their natives in the industries since beginning of April. 

According to labor contractors workers are expected to return only by June end, owing to this the industry feel that month of June will be tough to achieve production capacity even if there is better demand.

Source said that the laminate industry is continuously growing slowly with dozens of players entering the market & already established players are adding to the production capacities. Chemical Methanol and melamine prices have recently seen a down trend in the domestic market, which has added to smooth supply of raw material in the market.

Some of the market players said that good time is coming for the quality products. There is a huge scope to cater quality products market because low quality market has full of rush.

Further it is anticipated the market shall show a soft to smooth demand- supply trend in the coming months. There may be clarity on growth & bright prospects for the laminate industry mainly as per the current market sentiments.
