According to ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) India’s plastic industry will  touch Rs.1.7 lakh crore levels by 2015 which is currently of Rs. 1.02 lakh crore. As per study of ASSOCHAM currently the plastic industry in India is growing at compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of approx 20% due to rising middle class with high disposable incomes and growing economy. Secretary General of ASSOCHAM said that demand of Plastic in India is likely to double from present level of approx 10 MMT to 20MMT by 2015.

This industry is growing at good rate, mainly process goods. Image of “made in India” is good in international market due to that export shows good trend for India. Last year India’s export of finished goods was approx USD 2.40 Billion and raw material export was USD 4.60 Billion. Total export was of approx USD 7 billion, which is growing at the rate of 14%. It is said among players that The Global Plastic Industry is growing at healthy rate. India will also be part of this growth after general elections and then economy will stabilize.

Gujarat government has planned to attract 5000 crore investment by Plastic parks at Dahej and Sanand. Gujarat contributes 70% of Plastic raw material and also 70% of plastic machines are produced. In Gujarat there are more than 10,000 plastic units, 40% of them are recycled units.

State government of Gujarat has already allotted 200 acres land at Dahej in Bharuch district and another 100 acres of land will be allotted at Sanand in Ahmedabad. Approx 150 MSME players are booking their manufacturing unit at Dahej Plastic Park that will attract Rs.3000 crore investments and another Rs.2000 crore investment would be attracted at Sanand plastic Park as major big players in plastic automotive parts making will set up their shops at Sanand.
