Indian market is growing on world scale in the chemical industry. The scope and diversity of chemical manufacturers and marketers are on constant rise. Polymer industry is one of the leading categories of chemical industry. There has been increase in the polymer utility and its application areas.

At present the Polymer industry is segmented into three different categories of business sections. The first one of these segments is Speciality Polymers. This segment includes various businesses like waxes, plastic, resins and additives. The other segment is Commodity polymers. Businesses included in this segment are resins and fillers which are used in Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate and Propylene associated industries. Commodity Polymer Resins that are presently being exported across the intercontinental markets are the HDPE, LDPE, MDPE, PP, LLDPE etc. The third segment is that sees to the supply requirements of the Inks, paints and coatings industries.

At present the domestic polymer products industry has grown at 18% and 20% CAGR over the past three and five years respectively. The major reason behind this robust growth has been the lower cost of polymer products with finer properties and incredible increase in the demand from the end-user industries such as FMCG, pharma, beverages, consumer durables chemical products.

Per Capita consumption of polymer in India is around 9Kg, which is considerably below the global average which is 25 Kg. The consumption is likely to increase in the coming years as the penetration of polymer products is expected to grow more and more due to their lower prices and extended durability.
