The Indian industry for drugs and diagnostics measure is one of the biggest industries in India and currently is growing at a rate of 8 to 9% annually. %. Overall, this industry meets the need of the country by 70%, and is one of the major industries which add to Indian exports. In 2010-2011, India exported Rs. 475 billion worth of Pharmaceuticals and Medicinal products. Now that 100 percent of DOTS coverage has been achieved, India has refined its goals and targets as far as the diagnostics sector is concerned. Through this process however, careful attention has to be given to measure uninterrupted levels of transmission in the sector in terms of profit intakes, on the whole. India currently is working to develop and produce its own quality TB diagnostics. India is at the edge of bringing about a paradigm shift in global health concerns.
